Yellow Taxis’ monopoly at Mactan-Cebu Airport

Info

I arrived from Japan last April 14, 2012 at the MCIA and found out that at the arrival area only yellow taxis are allowed. These taxis are more expensive than ordinary taxis and so we had to struggle with our luggage up the stairs to the Departure Area where ordinary taxis are available. Why do the authorities allow the yellow taxis to have a monopoly at the Arrival Area and thereby causing the traveling public to be inconvenienced?

  • it only depends on the driver fellas :)

  • Why is some of this airport taxies picing up people in the evening at SM-mall, beside the taxi line? They also demand extra payment to drive other plces then Mactan

  • Not only the yellow taxi’s are in the arrival area, Fixed rate cars are there too…

And yellow taxi is a bit cheaper. 99% of the belongings, laptop, cellphones. Ipad, passports, etc. left by the owners are returned immediately. because it’s easy to traced. just go back to the airport. then wala!

  • I would want to know the answer to that question as well. I have the same experience last year and all I could say is the taxi system is horrible. The inconvenience of finding an alternative inexpensive means supposedly something “the public” can utilize is such a hassle. You are met with other taxis trying to get you but you have to haggle with the price. Big question, what is the meter for? I think the general public does not know the basic concept of corruption. It is clearly existent from the bottom.
