One of the participants in Sunday’s Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines died in an accident along the bike course in this city, reports said.
RAMIE’S LAST RIDE. This photo of Ramon “Ramie” Igaña Jr. was snapped at 8:15 a.m. near the Mandaue City approach of the Marcel Fernan Bridge. Veterinarian Willie Estepa, who met Igana about three years ago in the Ungo runners’ club, posted the image in his Facebook account. “You’ve taken pictures of me on several on my runs; now it’s my turn to return the favor,” Dr Estepa wrote. “I’ll surely miss your smiles behind your camera. Thank you for your kindness and unwavering support.”
The fatality, identified as Ramon Igaña Jr., died after he fell off his bike and hit his head on the gutter along the South Coastal road in Cebu City. A marshal who saw the incident immediately called the medics.
Igaña was rushed to Chong Hua Hospital but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. (Read the rest of this entry)
