WORLD class Cebuano designer Kenneth Cobonpue unveiled Friday the medal he designed for the Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines, which is happening this Sunday, August 5.
He said it took him two weeks to accept the offer to design the medal.
“When I was asked by the Princess of Sunshine Events to design the Ironman medal, I told her I needed months to think about it. This didn’t come easy because I don’t want to design a medal that looks like a traditional one. After two weeks, I gave in. I told her that this was a chance for me to be a part of this historic activity to show Cebuano creativity to the world,” he said in a press conference held at the Shangrila Mactan Resort and Spa on Friday.
He said he may not be joining the Ironman 70.3 race, but “by completing this medal, I have finished my race.”
“For those of you who complete the challenging race, I know my effort is worth yours,” he told the athletes joining the event.
