Cebu town residents retrace ‘Calungsod’s trail’

Heavy rains on Saturday failed to dampen the celebratory spirit of Ginatilan residents, as the community followed a trail that they believe Pedro Calungsod could have taken.

A portrait of Calungsod now hangs from the St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican, where he will be declared a saint today, Sunday, along with six others. Read the rest of this entry

Video: Dawn procession of the image of Blessed Pedro Calungsod

Catholic faithful in Cebu City joined Saturday dawn the procession of the image of Blessed Pedro Calungsod.

The procession started at 5 a.m. from the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral to the Cebu Archdiocesan Shrine of Blessed Pedro. It was held as part of the activities in commemoration of the 13th Annual Feast of the Filipino martyr.

The feast of Blessed Pedro is actually celebrated every 2nd day of April but since the date falls within Holy Week, the Cebu Archdiocese observed it on the Saturday that immediately precedes Palm Sunday. Read the rest of this entry »
