Calungsod arrives in Cebu today

The three-foot wooden statue of San Pedro Calungsod will return to Cebu City from Talibon, Bohol at noon today, Tuesday, at the end of a national pilgrimage that began shortly after the teenage martyr’s canonization last month.

From the Cebu City Pier 1, San Pedro’s image will be brought to his shrine at the Archbishop Residence on D. Jakosalem St. in a motorcade. Read the rest of this entry

Calungsod thanksgiving mass site’s tab reaches P16 million

Expenses for the development of the San Pedro Calungsod thanksgiving mass site at the South Road Properties (SRP) have reached P16 million.

Crowds urged: Brace for mud during Calungsod thanksgiving

Mud and large puddles marred a big portion of the 27-hectare venue for a national thanksgiving mass for Pedro Calungsod’s sainthood on November 30, after last Tuesday’s rains.

The situation, if repeated next week, would pose a problem for at least 500,000 pilgrims expected to attend the 5 p.m. mass that will be presided by Archbishop Emeritus of Cebu Ricardo Cardinal Vidal. Read the rest of this entry

10,000 seats set for Calungsod pilgrims during mass

About 10,000 pilgrims from various dioceses outside Cebu Province are expected to attend the national thanksgiving mass at the South Road Properties (SRP) at the end of the month.

Priests, Cebu City scramble to finish work for Nov. 30 Calungsod mass

THE national thanksgiving mass for San Pedro Calungsod at the end of the month is open to the public.

“There are no restrictions, no tickets needed,” said Msgr. Dennis Villarojo, Cebu celebration coordinator.

Mass site 70% ready; Calungsod tour starts Friday

CEBU CITY — About P10 million has been spent on preparations for a nationwide celebration in honor of a newly proclaimed Filipino saint, Pedro Calungsod, at the South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu City.

Vigils, movies for Calungsod held in Cebu

Masses and film showings are being held in several parishes in Cebu, ahead of the live telecast on Sunday afternoon of the declaration of the second saint from the Philippines.

Official Pedro image’s journey begins

THE pilgrim image of Blessed Pedro Calungsod will be flown to Rome, Italy today, Tuesday, for the Visayan martyr’s canonization rites on Sunday (October 21).
