Governor backs Pedro activities

GOV. Gwen Garcia expressed full support for the Cebu Archdiocese’s activities for the canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod on Oct. 21, especially if it will be held in Fuente Osmeña in Cebu City.

The province has yet to decide how much financial assistance it will extend for the activities.

The governor also welcomed the planned 100-day countdown launching at Fuente Osmeña starting July 14.

She offered the Capitol building as venue for mass and for other purposes.

“We have even offered, if needed, that they could use Capitol itself and use the social hall as a holding room for our cardinals, archbishop and bishop,” the governor said in Cebuano.

The governor also assured extending financial assistance to the canonization activities.

“Ato lang timbang-timbangon kung pila (We will still consider how much),” the governor said.

Three venues were earlier considered by the canonization venue committee before they came up with the South Road Properties.

The other two venues were the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue and Fuente Osmeña. (OCP/Sun.Star Cebu)
