Aquino to confer highest award on Robredo

MANILA — President Benigno Aquino III will lead the conferment of Quezon Service Cross award on the late Local Government secretary Jesse Robredo in a ceremony at Malacañang’s Rizal Hall on Monday.

Palace: Puno is not a member of BAC

MALACANANG clarified Tuesday that Local Government Undersecretary Rico Puno is not a member of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) that had deliberated on the procurement of alleged overpriced assault rifles.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the BAC is an independent committee in every government department and Puno could not be part of it since he is part of the procuring entity. Read more

Aquino urged to let Puno go amid controversy

MANILA — A lawmaker allied with the administration advised President Benigno Aquino III to let go of Undersecretary Rico Puno amid the alleged controversy involving the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) official.

Ifugao Representative Teddy Baguilat Jr., an administration ally, said the more prudent thing to do is to remove Puno from the DILG. Read more
