PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III said there is no need for him to voluntarily release his asset disclosure since it becomes part of the public record once it is submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman.
Chief Justice Renato Corona earlier urged the President to release a copy of his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) in public as the chief magistrate was pressed to do the same in the impeachment trial.
“Disclosure of the SALN is not a right. It is not an option. It is required by the Constitution. The question is — will I disclose it publicly? The minute I submitted it, that becomes part of the public record and it’s available,” Aquino said. Read more
