PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III will lead Friday the inauguration of the Climate Change Academy in Albay, considered as the “first of its kind” in the world as part of the government’s Climate Change Consciousness week.
The academy is “essentially [a] knowledge management institution” that will allow others to see how Albay residents prepare for calamities such as typhoons, Albay Governor Joey Salceda said in a Malacanang press briefing.
The institution will offer short courses focused on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction and management, he said. These subjects are the very same areas for which the province was hailed as “a champion” by the United Nations. Read rest of story
