MANILA — Malacanang on Tuesday told the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to “stand aside” if the group will not help government troops in pursuing lawless elements responsible for the death of 19 soldiers in Basilan last October 18.
“We have made it clear from the onset that this is no against the MILF as an entity but against lawless elements. Either they cooperate or stand aside and let our law enforcers do their jobs,” deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said.
President Benigno Aquino III earlier ordered the arrest of 10 people including Dan “Laksaw” Asnawi, second highest-ranking MILF military commander in Basilan. Read rest of story
