Palace denies financing Moro rebels

MANILA (2nd update, 5:10 p.m.) — Malacañang dismissed Wednesday malicious text messages that alleged President Benigno Aquino III gave P5 million to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to purchase guns and ammunition.

Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said the P5-million fund was intended for the Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI), which is a training center for future Bangsamoro leaders and managers.

Lacierda also clarified that the fund was only P5 million and not P5 billion as earlier reported. Read rest of story
