PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III reiterated that his government will go after corrupt officials in the past administration and will find sufficient evidence to ensure their conviction.
“A lot of this corruption that happened in the past still impacts in the present. And I think there has to be a singular message. You do something wrong there has to be a certainty of punishment,” the President said in response to a question asked by Indonesia during the Question and Answer portion in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) 100 Leadership forum at Makati Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City Thursday night.
Aquino also underscored that there is a need to end the attitude of “let[ting] bygones be bygones.”
“If there is no certainty of punishment that is actually an advertisement to continue doing the corrupt route up to the present time and that hampers our ability to be able to achieve the goals that we want to put our country in,” he said. Read rest of story
