BRIGHT-colored ternos and Maria Claras dominated ladies’ attire during the recent State of the Nation Address (Sona) of President Benigno Aquino III on Monday afternoon.

Held at House of Representatives in Quezon City, senators, congresswomen, invited guests and wives of lawmakers made sure they were dressed to the nines for this special event.

Senator Pia Cayetano wowed everyone with her silver-grey modern Filipiniana highlighted with a red and blue panuelo (off-shoulder).

The gown was created by Manila-based designer Mia Urquico, who has been working with the senator for her Sona dresses since 2004.

Urquico told Sun.Star that it took her two weeks to finish the design.

“Since the occasion always calls for the Filipiniana, we try to adhere to that basic look, but I always took into consideration what she stands for, her personality plus keeping with what’s fashionable,” Urquico said in an interview. (Read full story to see more photos)
