AUTHORITIES have announced suspension of classes and traffic re-routing plans in Quezon City on Monday as part of preparations for President Benigno Aquino III’s second State of the Nation Address (Sona).
Classes from the pre-school up to the secondary level in Quezon City will be suspended on July 25, the Department of Education (DepEd) said on Friday.
The suspension covers both public and private schools in the city, Dr. Corazon Rubio, OIC-Schools Division Superintendent of Quezon City, said.
The decision to suspend classes was made after consultation with the City Government and law enforcement agencies, DepEd-National Capital Region Director Dr. Elena Ruiz said.
She saw no reason to cancel classes in the metropolis as expected protest actions will only be limited to several sites, such as near the Batasan complex in Quezon City and Mendiola in Manila. (Read full story)
