THE Knights of Rizal Canada Region celebrated the 150th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal at the Rizal Monument in Earl Bales Park on June 19.

Rizal Canada Region is honored to have Sir Consul General Pedro O. Chan, KR, inducted to the Knights of Rizal in front of the Rizal monument.

Sir ConGen Pedro O. Chan led the wreath laying at the Rizal Monument at Earl Bales Park.

Other officials who witnessed the wreath laying were Sir Honorable Federal Minister Joe Oliver, KOR; Sir Honorable Murray Glen, KCR, MPP and former mayor of Winnipeg Glen Murray, KCR; and Honorable MP Joe Thomas of Don Valley East, Toronto Catholic School Trustee Sir Jun Enverga, KCR.

MANILA — An award-winning Filipino writer, editor, drama critic, playwright and visual artist will be conferred with the 2010 Pamana ng Pilipino Presidential Award by President Benigno Aquino III in MalacaƱang on December 14.

Randy Gener, who has published his works in publications in the US, Europe and Asia, will receive the award together with seven Filipino organizations, one foreign group, three foreigners and 13 Filipinos who are the recipients of the 2010 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas.

The Pamana Ng Pilipino Presidential Award is conferred “on Filipinos overseas, who, in exemplifying the talent and industry of the Filipino, have brought the country honor and recognition through excellence, dedication and distinction in the pursuit of their work and the advancement of their profession. They have displayed social consciousness in terms of manifesting strong community spirit, or leading and actively participating in projects and activities for the common good,” said the Commission on Filipino Overseas, which administers the Awards.

The recipients come from United States, Hong Kong, South Korea, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Australia, Germany and Canada.
