THE House of Representatives should investigate reports of a “party-list accreditation for sale” scheme at the Commission on Elections (Comelec), two party-list lawmakers said, as the 2013 midterm elections near.
Bayan Muna party-list Representatives Neri Colmenares and Teddy Casino filed House Resolution 2472, urging the House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms to probe reports of poll officials asking for bribe money in exchange for accrediting party-list groups. (Read more)

Supreme Court employees hugged and cried before former Chief Justice Renato Corona as he cleared his desk on Monday, nearly a week after he was removed from office by the Senate impeachment court.
Corona, along with wife Cristina and daughter Carla, went to his spacious office in the Supreme Court’s second floor to pack his things. The Coronas stayed for at least three hours, busily receiving employees who brought T-shirts and photos of the magistrate for him to sign. (Read more)

WITH the initial hint from President Aquino he’d appoint an independent chief justice, maybe a Supreme Court (SC) outsider, there’s little for speculators to work on.
But it wouldn’t be reckless to assume the next Renato Corona wouldn’t be:
–Anyone resembling Renato Corona, who looks, talks, and walks like him, not one who hoards dollars, or has a 30-year feud with his wife’s family; (Read more)

THERE appears to be a rush to require government officials to sign bank waivers to allow public scrutiny of their financial worth.
Those to be considered for the post of Supreme Court Chief Justice will have to sign such waivers, a member of the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) said. Lawyer Milagros Cayosa, representative of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines to the JBC, said the waiver would be for purposes of evaluation by the council. (Read more)
