Museum opens door to guests for a day

THE Sugbo Chinese Heritage Museum Foundation Inc. invited guests to get a sneak preview of the Gotiaoco Building and its ongoing restoration during the Gabii sa Kabilin last May 26.
Built in 1914 for commercial use, the Gotiaoco Building was the first building in Cebu to have an elevator. Seeing the historical value of the building and the significance of Chinese influences in Cebu, the foundation decided to restore the building, which started in June of last year. Read more

Palm Grass hotel honors Leon Kilat

TO commemorate this year’s anniversary of Philippine Independence, Palm Grass Hotel pays tribute to the revolutionary leader of the 1898 Tres de Abril uprising, Pantaleon Villegas, popularly known as “Leon Kilat,” through an art masterpiece.
Palm Grass, Cebu’s only heritage hotel, will celebrate the 119th Anniversary of Philippine Independence with the theme: “Kagawasan 1898: Kilat. Kulit. Kagawasan.” The highlight of the event is the unveiling of the Leon Kilat wooden sculpture on June 12, 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Kapihan ni Lumaya. Read more

5 win at Jet raffle

THE second quarterly draw of Jet Sales Corp.’s 50th anniversary raffle was held last May 17 at the ISLA LPG Cebu Operations Warehouse in Mandaue City.

The winners were Roely Morta, Lydia Abangan, Ritechell Penola, Milagros Matas and Jenette Angeli Tan. Each won a one-year supply of 11-kilogram Solane LPG.
The retail outlet or home delivery trade partner of each winner received a gift certificate worth P5,000 of LPG refills. More winners will be drawn on Aug. 17 and Nov. 17.

Tiptoe Nails opens 2nd store

SHIRLEY Young, chief executive officer of Shirward Inc., knows how much Cebuanos love to pamper themselves especially by getting a manicure and a pedicure. This prompted her to open Tiptoe Nails, a nail salon that offers a more relaxed experience to its customers.
Tiptoe Nails is a sister company of Franzy Salon, which Shirley also started in 2002. Franzy now has 23 branches in and outside Cebu including Dumanjug and Bacolod. Slowly but surely, she plans to open one Tiptoe Nails branch right beside every Franzy Salon. Read more
