CIDFF, Viva tie up for film project
ORGANIZERS of the Cebu International Documentary Film Festivals (CIDFF) forged a partnership with Viva Films in granting a total of P3-million in cash prizes to Cebuano scriptwriters whose works will be chosen for the CIDFF project.
Speaking during the 888 News Forum, CIDFF president Marie Ernestine Denise Fajatin-Pegarido said that there are six scripts that will be chosen, which will be funded with P500,000 each.
In partnership with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the 4th CIDFF and the 1st Cebu International Film Festival will feature a French documentary film, “Dreamers” by Noelle Deschamps, which will be shown on June 23 at 3 p.m. in SM Cebu City Cinema 1. The film showing will coincide with the launching of the 4th CIDFF Curtain Raiser, which will be held on Aug. 15-22.
Pegarido said that the “Dreamers” is a film that tickles the imagination, a poetic journey of authors and directors from all around the world. It won the 3rd CIDFF Merit Award for best in content. Deschamps will be in Cebu to attend the 4th CIDFF.
Other highlights of the Curtain Raiser include the launching of the Viva Films (Viva Communications) and CIDFF project that will grant six winning scripts a budget of P500,000 each.
“I hope more scriptwriters will join this CIDFF project so they will have the opportunity to win,” Pegarido said.
Another highlight is the launching of the Rotary Documentary Film Challenge 2015, a partnership between CIDFF and Rotary International District 3860.
Pegarido said filmmakers, producers, artists, media practitioners and film enthusiasts are all invited to attend the Curtain Raiser.
Pegarido said that CIDFF is a non-profit organization that manages annual international film festivals in Cebu to create and sustain an independent and world-class film market in the region.
The group launched the CEBU.IFF early this year to expand into the fiction genre to further develop the film industry as it envisions of making Cebu a film hub in the Southeast Asia. EOB
