RAKSO, SEOUL MET PARTNER UP

AS tourism undeniably contributes to the economy of any country, the Seoul Metropolitan Government reached out to select tourism counterparts in nine Southeast Asian countries: the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam. In the Philippines, Rakso Travel was chosen as its sole counterpart travel agency in the country, bolstering cooperation to improve information sharing toward development of two-way tourism between the Philippines and South Korea. This milestone project coincides with the grand opening of Seoullo 7017, a historical overpass, which is now a tourist attraction.

FWD continues growth

FWD continues to be one of the Philippines’ fastest growing insurers. The company’s total assets grew by 67 percent to P6.14 billion and total investments more than doubled to P5.09 billion compared with the previous year. FWD’s new business APE (Annual Premium Equivalent) grew by an impressive 53 percent over the prior year, increasing its individual life customer base to more than 20,000 at the end of 2016. With the launch of the e-commerce and corporate care channels late last year, FWD is now a true multi-channel business, consistent with its goal of reaching and servicing Filipino customers with innovative and relevant insurance solutions through the channel most convenient to them. “Whilst the first quarter of 2017 has continued with strong momentum for FWD, our mission remains the same: to be a challenger brand, drive innovation, and change the way Filipinos feel about insurance,” said FWD Philippines president Peter Grimes said.

Gulf oil launches BAJAJ DTS-I

GULF Oil Philippines launched the Bajaj DTS-i oil last May 26 at the Makati Shangri-La. Senior officials from Bajaj Auto Limited, Kawasaki Motors Corp. and Gulf Oil were present during the exciting event with Gulf Oil channel partners, their valued customers and presidents of Rouser Clubs. Bajaj Auto has expanded its range of genuine parts and accessories last year to include this new range of genuine oil. This oil is specially formulated to keep Bajaj Engines operating at peak performance for longer drain intervals in even the toughest conditions. This highly refined oil features new technology designed to ensure better protection against engine wear, corrosion and damage. “We feel proud to introduce Bajaj Genuine Oil as it would strengthen our range of premium motorcycle oils and enhance our rich legacy of quality, endurance and passion,” said Gulf Oil general manager Arvind Dargan.

Bubble Tea gets new look

IN celebration of its five years of operation in Cebu, Bubble Tea Station (BTS) has launched a new look that reflects its evolution from being a humble kiosk back in 2012 to being an active player in Cebu’s milk tea industry today.
Owner Meyan Lim Young said: “The old BTS brand represented a budding teeny-bopper who was very excited for all the possibilities coming her way. The new brand is a seasoned version of that girl. Still young and vibrant but with experience already.”
Also part of the anniversary celebration is its seal top designing contest. This is to give tribute to its customers’ support and make them feel like they are part of this milestone.
Bubble Tea Station currently has five branches. Three more branches in Cebu are set to open within the year.

EC2 takes on small-size format

SEEING that big class sizes can make it difficult for students to focus and learn, EC2 Excellence Academy developed an educational system that handles small class sizes and experiential methodology. “We wanted to create an educational system that’s small enough so that it won’t compromise the quality of our graduates,” said Ray Nobleza, EC2’s founding director. At EC2, the teacher-student ratio is 1:4 (one teacher for every four students) in preschool and 1:12 in elementary. Nobleza is the first to introduce Activity Fridays, an off-campus immersion integrated into the curriculum as a way for students to gain real life experiences outside the four walls of the classroom. The teachers and students will be going around Cebu visiting zoos, exhibits, museums, among others. EC2 offers a full academic program for Grades 1 to 6 with courses on programming and financial literacy, as well as supplemental programs for Math and Reading and in-campus tutorials for all subjects. Classes start on June 14. EC2 Excellence Academy is at Unit 4-6, E-Park, Tigbaw, Talamban, Cebu City. / CHRISTIAN B. QUILO
