Lifestyle Asia anniversary book launch
IT WAS a stellar gathering at the Makati Shangri-la’s Red for the launch of Lifestyle Asia’s 25: The Best of Philippine Society.
The limited edition collectible features people, occasions and events covering the years since the magazine began in 1987. This year marks the silver anniversary of the first glossy magazine in the Philippines, with the commemorative published as part of the milestone.
Johnny Litton is included in the special edition, together with Tingting Cojuangco, who appeared on the cover of the maiden issue and was also present that evening.
Mingling in the crowd were other people whose faces had graced the cover like Katrina Ponce Enrile, Mikee and Sheila Romero, Marilou Koa, Alfred Ty, Ben Chan, Joey and Robbie Antonio.
During the brief remarks, Editor in Chief Anna Sobrepeña recounted the activities of the last few months. “For the countdown to our anniversary, we planted trees for every page of the magazine, supported the activities of Gawad Kalinga and Habitat for Humanity, contributed to Make A Wish and the EJ Litton Foundation because giving is an integral part of our celebration. John Maxwell said that giving is the highest form of living and that’s what Lifestyle Asia is about, living at its finest.”
Before the champagne glasses of Moet and Chandon were raised for a toast, a copy of the special edition was presented to the family of the late Exequiel Garcia, founder of Lifestyle Asia.
After the applause, the talented Bea Tantoco was introduced, causing even more applause as she performed her opening song. The surprise of the evening was when Chris Tiu joined her and played the accompaniment on the grand piano.
A lady sipping one of the signature Belvedere cocktail remarked how the guests that evening represented three generations. Women who had graced the cover were there with their sons and daughters and one proud grandma was there with her grandson. It was like one big family affair, with lots of liveliness and positive energy throughout the elegant affair.
