YESTERDAY, Close Up lit the sky with the launch of The Close Up Pyromusical, happening every Saturday, from February 11 to March 17 at the SM Mall of Asia.

The awe inspiring fireworks featured some of the world’s most outstanding fireworks masters with 11 countries competing for the honor of being the world’s best. Adding romantic sparkle to the event was the special Close Up pyromusical show, which featured the timeless Close Up classic, Closer You And I, originally sung by Gino Padilla.

Kick-starting the first weekend of the Close Up Pyromusical was the biggest Valentine’s event this season, the Close Up Pyropalooza 2012 at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia. The Close Up Pyropalooza was a grand fusion of spectacular fireworks display and a music concert with no less than American Idol star David Archuleta who led the musical extravaganza.

Some of the country’s best up and coming bands and artists included in last night’s line up were Zia Quizon, pop rock bands Indios and Never The Strangers, plus a special appearance from Youtube sensation and real-life couple, JAMICH.

This fantastic project of Close up is making me smile. Number one, I love fireworks! Number two, I have so much good memories with the Lovapalooza that Close up launched years ago. I was able to go to several Lovapalooza events year after year because it was such a good and fun gathering at the boardwalk by the Manila Bay! There was even one year where my foreigner friends came to Manila just to experience lovapalooza. Well, it is getting better this year with weekly fireworks spectacles every Saturday until March 17 — when the Valentines project will end with another big bang with the announcement of the grand winner of the pyromusical competition, and as our very own fireworks masters in the country go all out with a special fireworks exhibition! Musical performances will be headlined by tip and up and coming artists, combined with fun games and activities that will be perfect for couples!
