Raki hailed from Mandaue, Cebu.

She was tagged as the “Ultimate Born Diva” after winning ABS-CBN’s prestigious singing competition by “Born Diva”. She bested seven other contestants where she sang “Today” as her winning piece.

Raki started singing when she was three years old. She was part of a church choir at the age of eight and has joined a lot of amateur singing contests in Cebu and also known as the “Jingle Queen”.

For her love of music, she became a music teacher at Asian Academy of Music.

She is now part of the talent agency Stages Production Specialists Inc. together with several known theater actors, such as Christian Bautista, Karylle and Sam Concepcion.

Raki finished Bachelor of Arts Major in Mass Communications in 2002 at Saint Theresa’s College-Cebu City.

Some of her awards and citations received were: One of Top 25 Cebu’s Women Achievers for 2007, Sun.Star Daily Cebu; conferred as a Hope Warrior (Ambassador) for Tingog Carolinian at the Rigney Hall USC-TC, Cebu, November 2007; Conferred as Haribon Foundation’s Ambassador for Conservation (HAC) for the Natural Page 2 Resources, August 2007; Recipient, Most Outstanding Mandauehanon Award, 38th Charter Day of Mandaue City, Cebu; Grand Finalist of the recent 2007 World Championship of Performing Arts in Hollywood, California USA, July 27-August 4, 2007 (with Special Citation: 2 Gold Plaques as 2007 Female Champion of the World Vocalist in Broadway and Contemporary Categories); 3-time Gold Medalist (Vocals – Broadway, Contemporary and Original Categories); 2-time Silver Medalist (Vocals – World and Gospel Categories) and a Special Industry Award Among the Top 5 Vocalists of the World among 5,000 acts participated by more than 50 countries.

She is also a recipient of the coveted prestigious Perlas Awards as most Outstanding Filipino in the Field of Performing Arts from the Philippine Foundation Inc; recipient of Garbo sa Sugbo Award as Pride of Cebu in the Field of the Performing Arts from the Provincial Government of Cebu, December 2004; recipient, Best in Vocal Rendition – “2004 International Song Composition of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Verse and Poetry Competition” held in Taipei, Taiwan; and recipient, 2003 Top Entertainer Award (TEA) as “Most Promising Vocal Artist” in the Philippines from the National Consumer Affairs Foundation, January 29, 2004 AFP Theater Manila.

She was also the Best Interpreter and Grand Prize Winner of “20th Cebu Popular Music Festival (Cebu Pop)” held at Waterfront Hotel Cebu in 2002 and the third Prize Winner of the “19th Cebu Popular Music Festival.”

She auditioned and made it to the “short list” for the Australian Production of Walt Disney’s “Lion King” The Musicale in 2002.

She played Maria, from West Side Story, Little Boy Productions at CAP Auditorium in December 2003.

Played as Timoune in “Once on this Island Musical Play” in 2002. She also played as “Maria Cacao”, Marketing Assistant and Voice Coach in a local stage play “Tall Tale’s Kuno” in 1999.

Played as “Osei-san, Jose Rizal’s Japanese girlfriend” in “Calamba Joe”, in 1999 also.

Played as “Eponine” in the local production of “Les Miserables”.

    Just stumbled upon this article, and I’ve noticed that Rochelle’s birth year is wrong. We practically grew up together, and she’s just a year younger than me. Well, actually, 3 months younger than me. Her birth year should be 1981, and not 1985 as what’s written above.
