Oro mayor urges voting public to register

WITH only two days left, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente Emano is urging those who are qualified to vote to register as the City Government has allowed the use of the City Tourism Hall as registration venue to accommodate the huge influx of registrants until October 31.

Emano said he moved the registration venue to a much bigger area since the City Commission on Elections (Comelec) office along Burgos St. is so small. Read the rest of this entry

October 31 deadline on voter’s registration ‘illegal’

Citing a 2009 Supreme Court (SC) ruling, the Kabataan party-list group said Monday that the deadline set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on the registration of voters is illegal.

Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. said that there will be no extension after the October 31 deadline and only those who have registered will be allowed to vote during the May 2013 midterm polls. Read the rest of this entry

Comelec gears up for last day of registration

ANTICIPATING a mad rush of people still wanting to register, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has issued rules on how Offices of the Election Officer (OEOs) will handle them on the last day scheduled Wednesday, October 31.
