A LAWMAKER urged President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday to express support to bills that will lower individual income taxes in his final State of the Nation Address (Sona).
Senator Juan Edgardo Angara, chairman of the Senate committee on ways and means, said he is hoping that among the measures the President traditionally mentions in the Sona as for priority approval are those that will revamp tax brackets. (Read more)
MALACANANG dismissed Saturday criticisms against the sin tax law, saying it was too early to judge on whether the government was able to achieve or not its objective in passing the controversial measure.
Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte, in an interview over dzRB Radyo ng Bayan, said that the law was implemented only starting early this year.
“(M)aybe it’s a little too early to be talking about those things, especially only several months have passed since the sin tax (law) has been implemented,” she said. Read more
