CAGAYAN de Oro City’s youth are divided over the move of the government to abolish the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), the youth arm of local government units (LGUs).

Youth leader laments move

POSTPONING the youth elections is tantamount to abolishing the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), said SK Cebu City Federation John Phillip Po II.

The House of Representatives voted to postpone the SK elections from Oct. 28 this year to the last Monday of October 2016. There will be no holdover, which means the term for all SK representatives that are ex-oficio members of the Sanggunian will end. Read the rest of this entry

Postponement of SK polls ‘should be made long ago’

PHILIPPINE Councilor’s League (PCL) national president Alma Moreno–Salic said on Tuesday that the postponement of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections should have been decided long before, and not several weeks before the intended election.

She made the personal stand as PCL is yet to come up its common stand about the issue on the postponement of the SK election. Salic said she sympathizes with the SK leaders who have formed their own slate and started campaigning in their respective areas. Read the rest of this entry
