House to act on guv’s poll protest

The House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HRET) will convene to act on the election protest filed by former Iloilo governor Niel Tupas Sr. against congressman-elect Hernan Biron Jr.

Running under the Liberal Party, Tupas said he filed the case not for recounting and opening of ballots but for the disqualification of his opponent due to fraud and massive vote buying. Read the rest of this entry

Batuhan files disqualification complaint vs Abellanosa

EVEN before he can assume office on July 1, Cebu City’s south district congressman-elect Rodrigo “Bebot” Abellanosa is facing a disqualification case before the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Ex-mayor files protest vs. Quiño

FOR the second time, former Compostela, Cebu mayor Ritchie Wagas filed last May 24 an election protest against Mayor Joel Quino, who was proclaimed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as winner in the May 13 election.

Quino was proclaimed last May 15 after garnering a total of 12,460 votes against Wagas’ 8,859 votes, or a margin of 3,601 votes. Read the rest of this entry

Emano files election protest vs Moreno

AFTER losing from his re-election bid, outgoing Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente Emano filed an election protest at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Manila through his legal counsel Friday.

Pelaez wants Radaza victory voided

DEFEATED mayoral candidate Ephraim Pelaez Jr. will file today a petition before the Comelec in Manila for the nullification of the proclamation Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza and her entire slate as winners in the May 13 election.

In a press conference at his mansion in Rahman St., Cebu City, Pelaez said Radaza and her camp engaged in terrorism, threats and intimidation against his supporters, and many of them failed to vote. Read the rest of this entry
