Journos call for inclusion of FOI in Sona

MEMBERS of the local and national media in the country are hoping that President Benigno Simeon Aquino III will include the Freedom of Information (FOI) bill in his fifth State of the Nation Address (Sona) speech today, Monday.

Although doubtful, Rowena Paraan, National Union of Journalists in the Philippines (NUJP) chair, is still optimistic that Aquino will have his take on the People’s FOI in his speech. Read more

Militants to stage anti-PNoy, anti-Sona rally

VARIOUS militant groups are expected to rally around government offices in Davao City today, July 28, in line with the 5th State of the Nation Address (Sona) of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III.

Althea Amoguis, spokesperson for the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan, in a program list emailed to the media Sunday, said the nationwide protest dubbed as “Enough of BS Aquino”, is expected to be bigger due to the controversial Disbursement Allocation Program (DAP) of the present administration. CEBU – Three mayors in the northern towns of Cebu hope to hear that President Benigno Aquino III has approved the Province’s post-Yolanda recovery plan when he delivers the State of the Nation Address (Sona) Monday afternoon.
