Sinulog ‘13 to highlight Pedro

HISTORIC events in Cebu since the 1940s, including the recent canonization of San Pedro Calungsod, will be the highlight of the Sinulog 2013, which organizers said will be a celebration of Cebu City’s 75th Charter anniversary.

‘Pablo’ death toll now over 600

MANILA – The death toll left by Typhoon “Pablo” (international codename: Bopha) has risen to over 600 while close to 800 people remain missing, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.

The NDRRMC said at least 647 persons were reported dead, 1,482 were injured, while 780 others are still missing as of 5 a.m., December 10. (READ MORE)

Over 300 fishermen remain missing

NEW BATAAN, Compostela Valley – The number of people missing after Typhoon “Pablo” (international codename: Bopha) devastated parts of Visayas and Mindanao jumped to nearly 900 after families and fishing companies reported losing contact with more than 300 fishermen at sea.

The fishermen from General Santos city and nearby Sarangani province left a few days before Typhoon Pablo hit the main southern island of Mindanao on Tuesday, triggering flash floods that killed more than 600, Civil Defense chief Benito Ramos said.(READ MORE)
