Binay to talk to Aquino over Garcia suspension

IF GIVEN the chance, Vice President Jejomar Binay would like to see President Benigno Aquino III to discuss Malacañang’s decision to suspend Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia months before the 2013 midterm elections.

Binay, one of the leaders of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) to which Garcia belongs, said he has not yet conveyed his dismay over the Palace directive to Aquino because of the Christmas break. Read more

Aquino meets officials in preparation for New Year revelry

PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III on Sunday met with concerned government agencies to know their preparations and security measures for the coming New Year revelry.

Officials from the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) briefed the President in Malacanang regarding their measures to ensure fewer injuries and zero-casualties due to firecracker-use. Aquino leads 116th Rizal Day rites

MANILA – President Benigno Aquino III led the nation in commemorating the 116th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal in ceremonies held at the Rizal Monument in Rizal Park, Manila on Sunday.

This year’s observance of Rizal Day coincided with the 100th year marking the transfer of Rizal’s mortal remains, which were kept in his sister Narcisa’s house in Binondo, Manila to the National Hero’s monument in Luneta. Read more

Palace: With RH law, PH can move on

MANILA — Malacañang confirmed Saturday that President Benigno Aquino III had signed into law Republic Act (RA) 10354 or the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012.

Sinulog Fun Run, Run for Pablo hit Cebu, Lapu streets today

THE third Sinulog Fun Run grew this year with 800 participating runners that will assemble at the Cebu City Sports Center.
